How to play

The whole game in three steps. Full rules

  1. Pick a secret person

Each player chooses one face from the board and keeps it hidden.

  2. Ask, then flip

Take turns asking yes-or-no questions — “Do they wear glasses?” — and flip down everyone the answer rules out.

  3. Guess to win

On your turn, name the person you think it is. Right, you win. Wrong, you lose.

More than one board

24 original faces to start, then make it about the people you know.

Questions people ask

Is it free?

Yes. Every board and every way to play is free, with no account and nothing to install.

How do I play Guess Who online with a friend?

Pick a board, choose Play online and enter your name. You get a link — send it to your friend. When they open it, you each pick a secret person and take turns asking yes-or-no questions. You see your own board; they see theirs.

Can we play on one phone or tablet?

Yes. Choose Same device. Before each turn the screen is covered, so you can pass it over without showing your board or your secret person.

Can I make a Guess Who board with my own photos?

Yes. Upload 6 to 40 photos — family, classmates, coworkers, your favourite idols or characters — give each a name and you get a link to play online or a sheet to print.

What happens to my photos?

Photos are cropped and shrunk in your browser, then stored only for your board. The board isn’t listed anywhere — only people with the link can open it — and it’s deleted 30 days after the last game.

Can I play against the computer?

Yes, on the Classic and Pokémon boards. You pick questions from a list and the computer answers; it asks you questions too. Easy mode makes mistakes, Hard mode plays the best question every turn.

Is this the official Guess Who game?

No. It’s an independent take on the classic two-player guessing game, with original characters. It isn’t made or endorsed by Hasbro, who own the Guess Who? trademark.
